|International Olympic Day 2015Each year the International Olympic Committee celebrates Olympic Day on 23 June. Millions of young people around the world are involved. In Australia, the celebration is promoted in schools and the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) uses the opportunity to encourage young Australians to participate in sport.
We encourage students, schools and Olympians to get involved during the week leading up to Olympic Day: Monday 22 – Friday 26 June, 2015, by participating in a sport activity or running a mini Olympic Games.
The AOC also encourages Olympians to return to school to talk about their Games experience and the positive impact sport has had on their life. If your school is holding an event and keen to have an Olympian attend or present to students please complete the expression of interest form and return to the AOC.
Celebrating International Olympic Day June 23, 2015 at the National Sports Museum
This year the Victorian Olympic Council in partnership with the National Sports Museum is holding a celebration of International Olympic Day, and we invite you to be involved. The celebration will occur Monday June 22 through to Thursday June 25, 2015 at the National Sports Museum located at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The event was trialled last year, with the general public and 631 school students meeting Olympians over four days of celebration. By popular demand it is back again!
A number of Olympians have been engaged to deliver sessions during this period; an opportunity for your students to not only meet an Olympian but hear about their Olympic experiences.
Sessions will be held between 10-3pm on Monday June 22, Tuesday June 23, Wednesday June 24 and Thursday June 25. Bookings are essential, please visit the National Sports Museum website for booking details.
